Environment

The environment is where we all meet; where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share

The stunning green hues that color the Samia Hills make it one of the county’s most icon landmarks. Unfortunately, the community around the area heavily depend on charcoal as a source of energy. This has led to the cutting down of many trees and by so doing invasive species such as leopards have taken over the area pushing out monkeys into people’s farms. Presently, zoonotic diseases that are transferred from animal to humans have been a large cause for concern as seen through the global pandemic of COVID-19.

Cognizant of the fact that man’s actions have resulted in climate change and flooding has been more rampant in the area, the trust would like to begin a reforestation program that would see about 10,000 trees planted in the next year. This can be facilitated by giving households 5-10 tree seedlings to plant in their compounds and in the hills where they harvest charcoal.
